Welcome to the website for the 2008 Milford Cobras A-Jr knothole team!

For updates on how the team is doing, be sure to check out the “Coach’s Blog.”

Another cool new website feature is small highlight videos of games!  Don’t expect Spielberg-like quality, but its still kinda cool...  Click here to go to the movies!

Our team goal is player development. Winning is secondary to learning on this team - we are attempting to build the skills and mental approach required to be a successful high school baseball player. As coaches, we will take great care to insure all the players' safety and we will not risk injury to a child just to win a game. I know too many players who were great in youth baseball who couldn't play when they were older because their arms were ruined by improper mechanics or misuse by youth coaches.

Traditionally with Milford Cobras baseball, you will see a large improvement in each individual player through the year both in their physical skills and their mental approach to the game. Our first several practices will involve breaking down the basic fundamentals of throwing, hitting, and catching.  By doing this now, we will prevent future injuries and have a strong foundation to teach the more complex aspects of the game. If you ever have a question about a drill that we are doing or an approach that we are taking with a player, please ask.

We will be doing several different activities during the year to help build the team and to make sure the players are having as much fun as possible.

The Milford Youth Baseball Association has a great website that contains tons of MYBA and youth baseball information.

Clermont County knothole has a new website that might finally be helpful after years of wasted space on the internet!

2008 Milford Cobras

Team rules

•Players should be on time for all practices and games. If the player cannot be on time, please contact the coaching staff prior to the game/practice. We understand that things come up and baseball is pretty low on the life-priority list, but it is very difficult to help the players develop or put together a lineup when we don't know who is going to show up.  It is also very unfair to the players who do show up if they have to forfeit a game because one or more of the players unexpectedly didn't make it.

•Players must always bring their equipment, including their safety equipment (e.g. cups), to every practice/game. Players forgetting their safety equipment will not be allowed to play/practice.

•During games and practices, players must stay with the team on the bench unless permission is given by one of the coaches. Parents and friends are welcome to come to the bench to talk briefly with the players during the game, but the players need to stay with the team during games and practices.

•Players are not allowed to 'trash talk' or say anything negative to or about other players or coaches. Players engaging in improper conduct will be taken out of the game immediately.

•The coaches with "Team Representative" cards are the only people allowed to talk to an umpire during the game. Anyone who does not have a "Team Rep" card who questions an umpire will be immediately ejected from the park by Knothole rules.

•Spectators are encouraged to say anything positive they wish during the game. Arguing or negative comments to opposing team members or coaches will result in the spectator being asked to leave. The players need to have positive learning experiences on the ball field. We will have enough poor behavior from some of our opponents to put up with any improper conduct within the Milford Cobras family.

•Any questions or comments about team activities or problems that may arise along the way should be quickly and openly discussed with myself or other members of the coaching staff. I am always available to talk about anything regarding the players, the team, or issues with our opponents.
